Responding to SOX Requirements with the CSP Product Suite

The Sarbanes-Oxley bill addresses the need to trust financial reporting. It makes corporate officers and directors liable for failures that should have been rectified by ordinary operational controls. Trust is a central concept for security, and is composed of a combination of reasonable expectations and testing (auditing) of the results. Management must understand the business, understand the risks, install and monitor controls to mediate those risks.

Computer Security Products (CSP) addresses the Sarbanes-Oxley requirements in three ways:

  • Identifying System-Specific Risks
  • Configuring Controls
  • Automating Tests and Monitoring.

Reducing the Risk of Using the SUPER.SUPER ID on HP NonStop Servers

The Super.Super ID on HP NonStop servers is the User ID used by operating system processes and for executing powerful commands that can have major consequences in a production environment. The Super.Super ID is equivalent in many ways to the root ID on UNIX systems and the Administrator ID on Microsoft Windows systems. In many cases the Super.Super ID is used to perform functions on an HP NonStop server that cannot be performed by other users. While additional security layers, such as SAFEGUARD, can help reduce the use of the ID, there are still several instances where the Super.Super ID must be used.
