CSP FTP Shield
CSP FTP Shield is an add-on to the standard FTP on the HP NonStop®, which implements "FTP-TLS" by wrapping a TLS proxy around the FTP client or server. Confidentiality is a key aspect of data security and FTP is a very common and easy way to transport data from location to location within the intranet, extranet or even across the Internet. Yet although FTP is a widely adopted standard for exchanging files across different platforms, the standard implementations of FTP have no encryption capabilities, which means that anyone using a Network “sniffer” can monitor and store any data passing across the IP network.
As a standard-based solution it can cooperate with compliant products on other platforms.
If you already have mechanisms established for file transfers using "normal" (not encrypted) FTP, the migration to CSP FTP Shield is completely transparent to your existing environment.
CSP FTP Shield in Server Mode
CSP FTP Shield running in server mode is an add-on to the HP FTP server on the NonStop® platform (FTPSERV), which implements the FTP server side of "FTP-TLS" by wrapping a TLS proxy around the FTP server on the NonStop® host.
CSP FTP Shield takes incoming requests from secure FTP clients and forwards them to FTPSERV.
FTPSERV remains compatible with every compliant FTP client.
CSP FTP Shield in Client Mode
When running in client mode, CSP FTP Shield wraps a TLS proxy around the FTP client on the NonStop® host. CSP FTP Shield takes incoming requests from the NonStop® FTP client and forwards them to the FTP Server on the partner system.
This makes the FTP client on the NonStop host compatible with every compliant FTP server, for example an FTP server running on a Unix host.
